Nov - Dec 2006

As i was updating the first blog with all the previous posts from Frdster, i tot why not i do a quick recap from Nov last year when i arrived here...since soooooo many things happened just within the past half a year!

16.11.2006 - Our Reunion!

Yes, yes, yes.....finally, after 1.5 yrs of long distance r/s! the time frame was not very long but the path had been very tough...its been a BIG test of our love, belief & goals in life..but soon after our reunion in Nov last year, everything starts to piece up nicely once again n we know what we hope to make it happen for our future! It was indeed a true blessing in disguise! ; )

Our weekend little adventures:

  • Lost?

We decided to check out a suburban mall during one the first few weekends here and guess what, we ended up at some ulu outskirt terminal station where there is not a single soul or anything around! Nonetheless, we had fun laughing at ourselves while waiting for the same bus to bring us back to the city centre..silly us!

  • Dun Laoghraire Port

This coastal port is located next to a little town. You can shop, eat or just walk around the port area to relax..the thing is that we visited the place during winter and its very, very windy and cold..so, u cant really stay outdoor for too long! Anyway, our main objective is to check out some winter ski jackets for our upcoming x'mas trip. my hub managed to get his jacket while i only managed to get mine in dublin city itself..

  • Belfast Xmas Market

Belfast is in the north part of Ireland and you will need about 3 hours to drive up from Dublin. Every year, they will have this xmas market where they sell food n stuff from all parts of europe - how can we miss it rite? So, we decided to check it out during one of the weekends nearing xmas..we took a direct coach there..

There were so much food that we wanted to try...there were plenty of cakes n pastries n burgers with exotic meat, roast pig, german sausages, dutch pancakes etc etc...

After the food, we took a slow walk around the area and to the riverside. I like the view there...peaceful n scenic...but its not a very safe area, so we left shortly n went back to the city area before heading home...

the bus journey was very tiring n we slept otw back...

  • Docklands X'mas Market

i am surprised to learn that Dublin has such a xmas market as well..n of cos, i hav to get my hub to go check out the event with me! heh...

Well, the things they sell there are very similar to those in Belfast, like food and handicrafts...the only diff is that they have rides for kids here! I was so excited when i see them as i have always loved attending funfairs & carnivals with popcorns n candy floss..this probably explains my interest in events planning..i duno why but i just feel good when i see people enjoying themselves...n that makes me feel happie.. ;)

X'mas Trip to Austria - Salzburg & Vienna

Feeling happie that i flew all da way to join n spent the xmas here with him, my hub treated me to a xmas trip to beautiful austria..i have always dream of a white xmas...we did tink of gg to Lapland, Finland where santa claus is...but we knew we have to "try out "a milder white xmas 1st before we plan for a more adventurous one... ;P

  • SALZBURG

The highlight of the trip was of cos up the salzburg snow mountains...we took a train into the area and u cant help but locked your eyes at the view outside the window...its exactly like those Ricola sweets advertisement u see in tv....the white snow-capped mountains, gigantic REAL xmas trees n the flowing streams with parially frozen ice-water...this is something u really must see or experience once in a lifetime - the beauty of nature!

We stopped by a little town at the bottom of the mountains and took a bus ride up to the base to take the cable car! As the car moved higher, we had a good view of the snow-covered town behind us...its sooooooooo beautiful!!!!!!!

Yes, its our first time seeing snow and i got so excited that i went around playing with snow! I even tried to build a snowman but the snow was too soft...so in the end, i only managed to do up a "snow-boy"...heh...u wun believe it but its quite warm up there as the sun shines directly at you...we brought some snacks up and had a mini picnic before we took the cable car and then the train back to the town area..

Salzburg is the town where Mozart lived and everything there was all about him! The next day, we took a slow walk from our hotel to town to see the the place where he lived and the university named after him...there was also a xmas market there n a big snow ring for pple to ice skate....

we travelled by train to Vienna the following day.

  • VIENNA

The train ride was quite fast...n wen we reach Vienna, we got ourselves a 3-day pass...which we ended up selling them at the station when we are leaving..we didnt use them at all cos there was no one collecting or checking the tram or bus ticket during our 3 days stay there! n even their underground train has no gate...u can just walk in n out freely....

we stayed near the Vienna Convention Centre and a HUGE entertainment park called PRATER..its very much the traditional kind - very diff fm those hi-tech thematic ones like Disneyland...but, but, but, it sure has its own charm... we had loads of fun exploring the area, taking lotsa fun pix..they also have a mini "Vienna" Eye..like the London Eye..but of cos its a much, much smaller version!

We also went to the Museum Quartier where you can find the Architectural Museum, and one of my fav buildings, MUMOK! Can you see the upside down house "stuck" at the rooftop of the museum? Its so interesting..everytime i travel, i discover alot of new things n it never fails to amaze me with how artistic and creative people can be! Inside, you can find works of modern art while the architectural museum covers more on the milestones of architecture in vienna..

We happened to find a vienna xmas market opp the museum quartier n went to check it out...i tink this xmas market has the most xmasty "feel" in comparison to the other 3 that i went..maybe its the surrounding "setting"...anyway, we tried the popular x'mas 'mozarteum' punch (alcoholic) that everyone is drinking...we tot we must give it a try n yes, it was good - fruity n sweet! Here, we also bought a pair of Mozart concert ticket to watch a mozart concert in a real palace...it was a peaceful n romantic xmas nite... ;)

The next day, we went to check out another of my fav buildings - Kunthause. Its a very special and unique building as it has uneven floors and its a tree house! They also have a pumpkin garden at the back of the building where pumpkins of all sizes can be found everywhere!

2006 didnt have a good start for me but it ended on a good note...i m sure year 2007 will definitely be better for me, and everyone! ; )
