as we r living in europe, coming bac to spore IS a luxury trip to us as my hub has to accumulate his leave n we had to take such a long flight bac...
after d wedding, we took some time out of our remaining las wk to bring our overseas frds ard the island before sending them bac...n we, ourselves, oso had do sm last min shopping/packing during the last few days in spore, b4 heading bac ireland...
as u noe, there are not many places we can bring them to..the standard ones are like chinatown, spore river (to take pix wif the merlion) n sentosa!
frankly, we havent been to sentosa for quite sm time..so, its nt a bad idea to go with them...there are sm new 'disney-alike' set up ard which are interesting..but sad to say, there hasnt been much of a change in sentosa for the past 10 yrs...i rem there were sm kinda BIG plan to transform the island into a very happening thematic park...but the construction seems to hav been going on till nw!
we tried a new 'attraction' - 'Calsberg Tower' etc..while the rest r not reallie worth paying for...things are still so expansive here...no wonder even the local doesnt wan to come...frankly, if u ask me..i wud say they shud waive off the entrance fee n set up more local food outlets here to encourage more pple, esp the locals (sporeans r willing to travel when there is good food!), to visit the place...they can continue to keep sm of the current rates for the activities or food if they wan...the whole island looks like a dead 'town' nw...its a chicken n egg thing i feel...if u tink saving or using that few bucks to defray cleaning/maintenance cost will help, personally, i tink that is too short sighted...we shud learn fm disneyland..they try to target the locals as well, as they noe the tourist alone will nt be able to sustain the attraction...
okie, enuff of the serious stuff...chk out our fun outing!
a day after our wedding, we met up with peter, ikeda-san n juni-chi for dinner at my hub's fav food hangout - Still Road Pepper Crab!
After a heavy meal, we took a slow walk to look at sm of our typical HDB flats here n then head to east coast...Juni-chi was so fascinated with the coconut signage there...he finds it very comical n took many pix with it...haha...
me n ikeda-san...
we end off the day with bringing them for supper at east coast hawker, where we treated them to ice kachang n chendol...
the next day, we brght them to chinatown for yum cha first b4 heading to URA to see sm exhibits n then sentosa:
yes, that the tall merlion with very very scary eyes has sm kinda green laser light cming out fm it at nite!
Inside the calsberg tower wif peter, ikeda-san & juni-chi...
birds eye view of the island!
k, my turn to take pix for my hub with them..hehe..
well, after sentosa, its finally time to say goodbye to our japan mama n her son...we sent them bac to the hotel n brght them to the airport...they took the sky train to their terminal n we had mr bean while waiting for them to check in...
Here's a group pix at the departure gate tog with my in-laws...sayonara!
Thereafter, we rushed bac to the hotel to pick up peter to geylang! he wanted to see the red light district n so, we took him there! u cant believe so many pimps approached him as they tot he was there to find sm 'fun'..heh...after that, we went bac to liang seah street to have our late dinner b4 sending him bac...
the nex day, we took him to try our famous hainanese chicken rice at d beach road market as he bght a coach tix there to KL, then Dubai, Germany n finally bac to ireland..
as for us, as much as we wish we cud take a break, we only 3 days left to do our packing/errands...the one mth in spore seems so short!
okie, here's my new hairstyle for the year!
